New Delhi: A war of words appears to be intensifying once again between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. The BJP has fiercely targeted the Congress over a video featuring a mimicry act of PM Narendra Modi. The Congress posted a video on X in which an individual is seen mimicking PM Modi in the presence of Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi appears to be enjoying the performance. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and BJP leader Smriti Irani targeted the Congress while reposting the video. In a post on X, Kiren Rijiju remarked that the Congress party has turned into a party of comedians and jesters, which is why they have been sidelined permanently; he added, “RIP.” The mimicry video is from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where PM Modi was mocked.
BJP alleges insult to an elderly woman
During the mimicry act performed by artist Pulkit Mani on the stage shared with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the artist also mocked the request for a chair for an elderly woman. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal termed this an insult to an elderly mother. He contrasted the values of respect and affection with the act of mocking an elderly mother.
What Smriti Irani said
Former Union Minister Smriti Irani made a significant remark while reposting the Congress video: “When destruction looms over a man, his wisdom dies first.” Additionally, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari stated that Rahul Gandhi is not a leader of the opposition, but a leader of trolls. Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi also targeted Rahul Gandhi over the incident.
He remarked that PM Modi’s late mother was insulted on the stage where Rahul Gandhi was present. Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav also launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi, stating that if the event was for students, he should have engaged in a dialogue with them and taken questions. He asserted that mimicking PM Modi and insulting an elderly woman in this manner is wrong.
What Gajendra Shekhawat said
Delhi BJP leader Rekha Gupta termed the incident shameful. He further posted on X that by laughing at the insult directed at a mother, Rahul Gandhi has revealed his political upbringing to the entire nation. This “Prince” of the Congress party has fallen victim to mental bankruptcy.
He stated that while politics may involve opposition, ideological differences, and even sharp attacks, Indian society can never accept the politics of making undignified remarks about someone’s deceased mother and mocking the situation.
