Three Italian passengers arrive in Munich without immigration checks

The three passengers had arrived in Delhi on September 4 from Amritsar on an Air India flight, from where they were to catch a connecting Lufthansa flight to Munich. According to officials, at the Delhi airport, they were diverted to the international transfer area and could not complete the mandatory immigration process.
After the matter came to light, the Home Ministry has called a meeting of senior officials on Tuesday evening. Apart from officials from the Home Ministry and the Civil Aviation Ministry, other parties related to the matter are likely to attend the meeting.
The three passengers had arrived in Delhi from Amritsar.
The three passengers had originally boarded an Air India domestic flight from Amritsar to Delhi. After reaching Delhi, he had to go to Munich by international flight.
It is reported that boarding passes for both Delhi and Munich flights were issued to the passengers at Amritsar airport. As per the normal procedure, after reaching Delhi, he had to complete the necessary immigration process before boarding the international flight.
However, according to officials, the passengers were diverted to the international-to-international (I-to-I) transfer process. That is why he went through a procedure that was not applicable in his case and boarded the flight to Munich without immigration clearance.
A show-cause notice has been issued to Air India.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has sought a response from Air India regarding the incident. The ministry has issued a show-cause notice to the airline and asked it to explain how passengers were allowed to board the international flight without completing the mandatory procedures.
The main question of investigation is why the identity and travel procedures of these passengers arriving on domestic flights were not checked properly at Delhi airport. The process related to connecting flights and boarding passes of passengers is also being reviewed.
