New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former UP Chief Minister Mayawati is currently focusing on strengthening her party’s organizational structure. She appears quite active in view of the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Once again, she has surprised everyone by signaling a move to elevate the political stature of her nephew, Akash Anand.
Recently, she had stripped Akash Anand of key responsibilities, deeming him insufficiently mature. With the upcoming assembly elections in UP, Uttarakhand, and Punjab in mind and prioritizing party discipline and its mission above all else Mayawati issued a significant statement on X (formerly Twitter). She targeted former Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Siddharth, accusing him of harming party interests for personal gain.

What did Mayawati say?
Former Chief Minister Mayawati made a significant statement via X. She targeted former Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Siddharth, accusing him of undermining party interests for personal gain; this has also dealt a blow to his son-in-law, Akash Anand. It is now indicated that Akash’s active role in the party can only be restored if his father-in-law retires from politics.
The former Chief Minister shared a series of posts from her official social media handle. She stated that Ashok Siddharth prioritized his personal and familial interests over the party’s mission.
Despite being given multiple opportunities by the party, he did not abandon his political ambitions a move for which his son-in-law, Akash Anand, is also paying the price. She further added that the party has adopted this strict stance keeping its internal discipline and the interests of the movement in mind.
Under what conditions will Akash Anand return?
Clarifying the situation, Mayawati stated that if Ashok Siddharth rises above his political ambitions and personal interests to announce his complete retirement from politics, the path for Akash Anand to work independently within the party would fully open up. Only then could the BSP leadership sympathetically consider restoring Akash’s previous responsibilities. There is a general consensus within the party regarding this matter as well.

Shifting Political Developments within the BSP
It is worth noting that the political upheaval within the BSP has taken everyone by surprise. Frequent changes were observed in the social media profile bio of Akash Anand; he had initially described himself as a ‘worker’ and subsequently as a ‘supporter.
When will the UP elections take place?
All political parties are pulling out all the stops ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. BSP supremo Mayawati has also ramped up preparations well in advance; she is personally holding meetings with party office-bearers and implementing major changes.
