New Delhi: There appears to be little hope for a path to peace between the US and Iran in the near future. Severe tension persists between the two nations, causing the situation to deteriorate rapidly. The US has been continuously launching attacks with the aim of teaching Iran a lesson, while Iran has also adopted an aggressive stance against the US. According to US Central Command, the US military destroyed Iranian crude oil tankers after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attempted to target a US Navy warship twice using ballistic missiles.
This action took place on September 8. The US military stated that the US warship successfully thwarted both missile attack attempts by Iran. Following these events, patrols in regional waters have continued. There have been no reports of injuries to US military personnel during these attacks.
Massive US Strike
Amidst escalating tensions, CENTCOM reported that in response to Iran’s recent failed attacks, the US military completely destroyed four crude oil tankers linked to the IRGC in the Gulf of Oman. These included the M/T Kaviz, M/T Charminar, M/T Horizon 1, and M/T Riesco.
Additionally, the M/T Derya was targeted near Kharg Island. According to the US military, the crews were instructed to abandon their ships before action was taken against the vessels. US forces then attacked the ships, rendering them inoperable.
Major Claim by the US
Meanwhile, CENTCOM claimed that Iran had been using these oil tankers as part of a covert network worth billions of dollars. According to the US command, revenue generated by this network provides financial support to the IRGC and its regional allied organizations. The US military asserted that Iran lacks the effective capability to protect these tankers from US action.
Tankers Attacked on September 5 as Well
According to CENTCOM, the US military had previously destroyed three Iranian crude oil tankers on September 5. The US command stated that prior to that action, the IRGC had also attempted to attack a US aircraft carrier and a guided-missile destroyer.
Iran fired missiles at Jordan
For information, let us tell you that IRGC said on Wednesday that in response to American attacks on Tehran’s ships, they have fired missiles at the American military base in Jordan. According to IRNA report, the Guardsmen launched a massive missile attack on the American Al-Azraq base in Jordan as part of an operation. At the same time, if Jordan is to be believed, it has shot down 20 to 18 missiles coming from Iran. The government news agency quoted the army as saying on Wednesday that two missiles fell in deserted areas and there were no reports of any casualties.
