New Delhi: If you haven’t applied for the UP Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) yet, there is no need to worry. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has extended the application deadline for the UP PET exam to September 7, 2026. Previously, the deadline was September 1, 2026. If you haven’t applied yet, do not delay; the application process is straightforward and hassle-free.
Candidates aspiring for future Group ‘C’ state government jobs, including roles such as Lekhpal, VDO (Village Development Officer), and Forest Guard,d who have not yet applied can complete the process by September 7. Missing this deadline would mean losing the opportunity, which could lead to difficulties later.
Who can apply for this exam?
Certain eligibility criteria have been set for the Uttar Pradesh Preliminary Eligibility Test. Candidates must have passed at least Class 10 from a recognised board. Additionally, the candidate’s age must be between 18 and 40 years as of July 1, 2026. Those younger than 18 or older than 40 will not be eligible to appear for the PET exam. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted age relaxation in accordance with the rules.

The UP PET application process involves four stages. In the first stage, candidates must undergo authentication. After completing the ‘One Time Registration,’ candidates need to register specifically for the exam. Next, the fee must be paid according to the category, and finally, a printout of the application should be taken and kept safe for future reference.
Category-wise fee details
Category-wise fees have been fixed for this exam. Candidates belonging to the General and OBC categories are required to pay a fee of ₹185. Candidates from the SC/ST categories must pay ₹95, while those from the PH (Physically Handicapped) category are required to pay ₹25. Additionally, fees can be paid online.
