New Delhi: Power outages during the monsoon season are becoming increasingly common. There have even been instances where students missed their exams due to such power failures. One such incident occurred in Jaipur, Rajasthan, during the NEET PG exam, where students were unable to take the test because the power went out. However, students who missed the exam at the centre need not worry, as new dates for the paper have been announced.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has now scheduled the exam for the affected students on September 5. Students no longer need to be anxious; the exam date has been officially announced, and admit cards for these candidates will be issued soon.
New Exam Date Set After Power Outage
The NEET PG exam at the Sitapura centre in Jaipur was scheduled from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. However, due to a technical glitch, the power failed before the exam could even begin, causing the students to miss the paper entirely. Following this, agitated students created a commotion and questioned the arrangements made by the conducting agency.
Students alleged that they did not receive a satisfactory response from the NTA. Acknowledging the students’ demands, the exam was cancelled, and a new date was announced. According to reports, the exam will now be conducted on September 5, 2026, starting at 3:00 PM. Preparations for the exam will begin shortly. This decision by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences is considered crucial for the students who missed the exam. The department will issue admit cards soon.
When Will Admit Cards Be Issued?
Admit cards will be issued for the students at the Sitapura centre who could not take the exam due to the power outage. The admit cards will be released on the official NBEMS website, from where they can be easily downloaded. The exam is conducted in a computer-based mode by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences.
Previous instances of exam cancellation due to power outages
This is not the first time an exam has had to be cancelled in Rajasthan due to a power outage; similar incidents have occurred in the past. A similar situation arose a few weeks ago during the All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test 2026.
At that time, the exam had to be halted midway at Jaipur’s Sri Sathya Sai PG College due to a power cut. Consequently, 49 candidates were unable to complete the examination. That exam is now scheduled to be held on September 5.
