New Delhi: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has made a major announcement for the state’s daughters. The government will distribute free scooters to over 50,000 young women, a move expected to yield significant benefits. In this context, Yogi Adityanath highlighted the initiatives undertaken for women by the ‘double-engine’ government, emphasising that the safety, dignity, and self-reliance of women have been central to their schemes.
CM Yogi Adityanath made this significant announcement for the state’s daughters during the launch of the ‘Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yatra’ and the flag-off ceremony for special buses in the capital, Lucknow. The Yogi government will distribute scooters in October and November to 50,000 young women pursuing undergraduate studies—a gesture that will serve as a major gift.
Free Bus Service for Women for Three Days
In view of the Raksha Bandhan festival, CM Yogi Adityanath announced that bus services provided by the Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation and city bus services would be free for all mothers, sisters, and daughters for three days. Women will be able to travel on these buses free of charge during this period. Additionally, starting August 29, women over the age of 60 will also be entitled to free bus travel.
To avail of this free service, women will need to present their Voter ID or Aadhaar card, and the government will cover the cost of their fares. The government has named this scheme the ‘Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar Matrushakti Yojana.’ Yogi Adityanath noted that Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar had championed the cause of women’s self-reliance and also made significant contributions to the renovation of temples.
Hostels for Women
The UP CM stated that the scheme to construct hostels for working women is also being named after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar. Similarly, the bus service has been named in her honour. Furthermore, Yogiaimedm at previous governments during his address.
He remarked that before 2017, the safety of the state’s daughters was at risk. Middlemen played a role in the distribution of pensions and scholarships. Disturbances and riots often occurred before festivals, and the ‘mafia’ wielded power parallel to that of the state government.
Criminals Will End Up in Jail or Hell
The Chief Minister stated that his government has taken significant steps to ensure the safety of daughters, making their security a top priority. He declared that anyone who compromises a daughter’s safety, whether inside or outside the home, is destined for either jail or hell.
He further noted that while there were approximately 10,000 female police personnel in the state in 2017, that number has now risen to 45,000. He added that following new recruitments, this figure would reach 50,000. Three battalions of the Women’s PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) have also been established.
