Many cities and towns are also facing power outages due to the rain; people are grappling with both the rainfall and the lack of electricity.
Heavy rainfall continues in the capital, Delhi, and surrounding areas, leading to a drop in temperature and providing relief from the scorching heat. Normal life has been disrupted across most parts of North India. Landslides in the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have blocked several routes. Heavy rains have also made life difficult in the northeastern states. A heavy rain warning has been issued for 20 states for Sunday, August 23. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in various parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha on August 23. According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is also expected in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Additionally, heavy rain is anticipated in Telangana, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, and several northeastern states. Strong winds accompanied by thunderstorms are likely in many locations. Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, and the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry region may experience rain along with winds gusting up to 50 km/h.

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in parts of Delhi. The sky over Delhi is likely to remain generally cloudy on August 23. Light to very light spells of rain are expected in some areas between morning and afternoon.

While the IMD indicates that the intensity of rainfall may gradually subside in the coming days, the weather is expected to remain active in Eastern UP until August 25. People have been urged not to venture outdoors, given the possibility of lightning strikes.
