New Delhi: The Jharkhand government has finally yielded to the students who had been protesting in Ranchi for several days, agreeing to their demand to cancel the JSSC and CGL examinations. This decision by the state government has elicited mixed reactions, bringing relief to some while causing distress to others. Following the cancellation of the JSSC and CGL exams, candidates who were already employed in various roles, including Section Officer (SO) and Assistant Section Officer (ASO), suddenly found themselves unemployed.
After a cabinet meeting last night, these individuals gathered outside the ministry. Braving heavy rain, they formed a human chain to protest, their faces filled with despair and eyes welling up with tears. Candidates who held jobs until yesterday have now lost everything. According to reports, 2,250 employed candidates lost their jobs in a single stroke. The selected candidates may now approach the court.

Major Decision by the Hemant Soren Government
The Hemant government took this decision following a meeting with cabinet colleagues. Meanwhile, candidates who had qualified for the CGL exam and were already employed staged a protest by forming a human chain and remained stationed outside the ministry late into the night, despite the heavy downpour. The selected candidates are inconsolable, unable to hold back their tears.
Roshan Kumar is in a state of utter distress, weeping over his situation; he laments that while he had a job until yesterday, he is now unemployed. He had left a job with the Railways to take up this position. He argues that while the court had ordered the removal of those who secured jobs through improper means, dismissing everyone in one fell swoop cannot be justified. This individual was serving as a Section Officer in the ministry and has not returned home since the previous night.
His condition is so dire that even his elder brother, who came to console him, broke down in tears upon seeing his younger brother’s state. Sanjit Kumar, an ASO, shares a similar story; after graduating in 2017, he initially worked for the Railways. However, the desire to secure a government job in Jharkhand cost him both his Railway job and, now, his CGL position.

Employees Rendered Unemployed by a Government Decision
It is worth noting that a large number of candidates who qualified for the CGL exam are still gathered outside Project Bhawan. Until yesterday, these employees were performing their duties at this very Project Bhawan, but a sudden government decision left them out of a job.
There is immense anger among the candidates regarding the government’s decision. They state that they had chosen to work in their home state, even giving up jobs with the central government and other departments. Furthermore, they allege that the order terminating their employment was issued without their side of the story being heard. Until yesterday, we were Secretariat employees; today, we are standing on the street, they said.
