There was chaos at the Jaiprakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalaya on Mohan Road in Lucknow on Friday when a large number of students took to the streets to protest the school’s arrangements. They staged a sit-in on the Buddheshwar-Mohan Road, blocking traffic. The protest resulted in a long line of vehicles and a traffic jam in the area.
Students stated that the quality of food served in the school’s hostel remains consistently poor. They alleged that insects have been found in the food on several occasions, but despite complaints, no permanent solution has been found to the problem. Students also expressed displeasure over the healthcare facilities.
According to the protesting students, adequate medical care is not available in the hostel when a student falls ill. They allege that even in cases of serious illness, the matter is dismissed with simple medication instead of proper examination and treatment.
Students also raised the issue of a teacher shortage. They stated that the lack of adequate teachers is impacting their studies. When the expected action was not taken despite repeated complaints, they were forced to take to the streets to raise their voices.
Upon receiving information about the student protest and road blockade, Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun and Principal Secretary Anurag Yadav arrived at the scene. Officials spoke with the protesting students and listened to their concerns in detail. The students were then taken to the school campus and directly interacted with them.
Minister Asim Arun, while affirming the students’ complaints as legitimate, stated that their demands were being taken seriously. He acknowledged that improvements have been made in the school’s facilities, but much work remains to be done.
Regarding teacher quality and training, the Minister stated that arrangements are being made with leading institutions for teacher training. Work is also underway to provide online coaching to strengthen students’ academics.
Regarding the teacher shortage, the Minister stated that a case related to this is pending in court. He stated that efforts will be made to resolve the issue through effective advocacy soon. He emphasized the role of teachers, stating that it is their important responsibility to strengthen the foundation of students’ education.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary Anurag Yadav assured the students that the administration would take necessary steps to improve the school and hostel facilities. He stated that the campus would be repaired, including the warden’s residence and other necessary facilities.
After receiving assurances from officials and assurances that their problems would be resolved, the students ended their protest. With this, traffic on the Budheshwar-Mohan Road gradually returned to normal.
