New Delhi: The monsoon is currently displaying its fierce side, causing torrential rains across various regions of the country. Rainfall in parts of Western Uttar Pradesh and the Delhi-NCR region has brought relief to residents from the scorching heat. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms continues in various other parts of the country.
Rain has been falling since morning in some areas of the northeastern states, triggering landslides in hilly regions. These landslides have blocked several routes, causing significant inconvenience to the public. Heavy rainfall continues to lash most parts of South India. Winds gusting at speeds of 70 to 80 kmph are expected to persist in some areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rain in several regions across the country.
Likelihood of Heavy Rain and Storms in 14 States
According to the IMD, warnings for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds have been issued for several states. The department has alerted Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan regarding heavy rainfall.
Warnings for heavy rain have also been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Jharkhand, Gujarat, West Bengal, and Odisha. Wind speeds could reach 70 to 80 kmph. A drop in temperature is expected in many areas following the rainfall.
Weather Forecast for Delhi-NCR
The Meteorological Department predicts thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain in Delhi on August 14. A warning for cloudy skies and rainfall in the capital has been issued. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 29 degrees Celsius.
Weather in Uttar Pradesh
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall for Noida, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Mathura, and Agra. In addition to these areas, heavy rain alerts have been issued for Gonda, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Aligarh, Jhansi, and Muzaffarnagar. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in several districts, including Bahraich, Mirzapur, Jaunpur, Sonbhadra, and Mau. Warnings regarding thunderstorms have been issued for these regions, with wind speeds expected to reach up to 60 km/h.
Weather in Bihar
The IMD has predicted heavy rain in Bihar’s capital, Patna, as well as in Nalanda, Darbhanga, Purnia, Munger, Gaya, Aurangabad, Begusarai, and Samastipur. Rainfall is also expected in Saharsa, Kishanganj, Jehanabad, Sheikhpura, Katihar, Khagaria, Kaimur, Saran, Rohtas, Lakhisarai, and Supaul. Wind speeds in these areas could reach up to 55 km/h.
Rain Likely in Madhya Pradesh
According to the IMD, heavy rain is forecast for Bhopal (the capital of Madhya Pradesh), Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen, Jabalpur, Indore, Gwalior, Narmadapuram, and Narsinghpur. Additionally, an alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for Chhindwara, Ujjain, Dewas, Alirajpur, Shahdol, Anuppur, Umaria, Mandla, Dindori, Sidhi, and Panna.
