New Delhi: Monsoon rains have slowed down the pace of life across most parts of India. Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms continues in various areas of the northeastern states. In contrast, Western Uttar Pradesh and the Delhi-NCR region have seen sunny skies since morning, leading to a rise in temperatures and sweltering heat.
Meanwhile, temperatures have dropped in various parts of South India due to thunderstorms and rain, bringing people relief from the scorching heat. Continuous rainfall in the hilly regions of North India has triggered landslides, disrupting traffic on several routes. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms across several states. Details regarding the weather forecast for specific regions are provided below.
Heavy Rain Alert for 16 States
The India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for 16 states across the country. Alerts have been issued for UP, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Jharkhand.
The Meteorological Department has also forecast heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 80 km/h are also likely during this period. Temperatures may drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius due to the rainfall.
Weather Forecast for Delhi
The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rain and gusty winds in the capital, New Delhi, on August 13. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius tomorrow, August 13, while the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 29 degrees Celsius.
Rain Warning for Several Districts in UP
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Mathura, Agra, Kanpur, Jhansi, Bahraich, Gonda, and Ambedkar Nagar. Additionally, alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for Azamgarh, Mirzapur, Jaunpur, Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, and Sant Kabir Nagar.
Forecasts also indicate the likelihood of heavy rain and thunderstorms in Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, and Mau. The IMD predicts strong winds reaching speeds of 70 km/h. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 35°C tomorrow, August 13.
Weather outlook for Bihar
According to the Meteorological Department, alerts for heavy rain and thunderstorms have been issued for Gaya, Jehanabad, Patna, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, and Saran. Warnings for heavy rainfall have also been issued for Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Saharsa. Furthermore, heavy rain is likely in Supaul, Purnia, Kishanganj, Katihar, Khagaria, and Munger, accompanied by the possibility of strong winds blowing at speeds of 60 km/h.
