New Delhi: Students in Ranchi are currently staging an indefinite protest against the JPSC recruitment scam. While the student agitation continues, the government is simultaneously investigating the examination process. New revelations are emerging daily from the probe, and arrests are now being made in the case. An arrested accused has made a major disclosure regarding the scam.
Abhay Tiwari, the mastermind behind the scam, has made a significant confession to the CID, admitting that large-scale irregularities occurred not only in the 14th JPSC Preliminary Test but also in the 11th through 13th examinations. During interrogation, he revealed that candidates’ interview scores were inflated in exchange for money. Meanwhile, Ranchi Police has taken major action in the JSSC Junior Engineer exam paper leak case by arresting another accused.
Accused reveals secrets during CID interrogation
During CID interrogation, Abhay Tiwari disclosed that financial deals were struck with candidates regarding the 11th to 13th JPSC exams as well. He admitted that deals worth lakhs of rupees were made to boost interview scores. The most significant revelation concerns the recruitment of Forest Range Officers (FRO) and Assistant Conservators of Forests (ACF).
According to Tiwari, he collected approximately ₹5.8 crore from 20 candidates. The going rate for an FRO post was between ₹20 lakh and ₹25 lakh, while the figure for an ACF post ranged from ₹30 lakh to ₹35 lakh. He also admitted to accepting ₹10 lakh from candidates in connection with the CDPO examination.
Tiwari stated that Aditya Pandey, a resident of Namkum, played a pivotal role in this entire scheme. Aditya facilitated the inflation of interview scores by establishing contact with Khyangte, Ajita Bhattacharya, her PA Brajram, Jamal Ahmed, Anima Hansda, and Ramveer Singh (Director of TDPL).
Tiwari Reveals Key Information
The accused, Abhay Tiwari, revealed that he had connected with three candidates who had cleared the JPSC exam through an agent named Lalu. These candidates were specifically assigned to interview boards featuring Khyangte and Ajita Bhattacharya so that their scores could be easily inflated.
The CID has now intensified its investigation into the matter. The investigative team is set to question Dr Anima Hansda, a former member of the JPSC, today. Meanwhile, the CID has already questioned Ajita Bhattacharya. The agency aims to identify and reach every individual involved in this entire scam.
Student Protests Continue
It is worth noting that student protests in Ranchi regarding the JPSC scam are ongoing. On Monday, a heated confrontation took place between students and police personnel during the siege of the Legislative Assembly. Several students were injured in the subsequent lathi-charge.
