New Delhi: If you wish to enrol your child in a Navodaya Vidyalaya, do not delay. The deadline for submitting applications for the Jawahar Navodaya Class 6 entrance exam, conducted by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, is fast approaching. The last date to submit the application form is August 7, 2026.
Negligence in this matter could result in your child missing out on admission to the Navodaya Vidyalaya. You can apply online via the official website, navodaya.gov.in, before the deadline without any hassle; the process is quite simple. Notably, candidates are not required to pay any admission fee.

No Fee for Class 6 Admission
Parents do not have to pay any fees for their child’s admission to Class 6 at Navodaya Vidyalaya; the entire process is free of cost. The application is free for candidates from all categories.

Parents can apply for their child’s admission from the comfort of their homes without any inconvenience. For your convenience, the application link and the steps to fill out the form are provided below:
First, visit the official website: navodaya.gov.in.
Next, click on the admission-related link (cbseitms.rcil.gov.in/nvs) found in the pop-up on the website’s homepage.
Then, on the new page, click on “Click here for Registration for Class VI JNVST (2027-28).”
After that, fill out the form by entering all the required information accurately.
Once the application is complete, click on “Click Here to Print Registration Form” to take a printout and keep it safe for future reference.
Eligibility Criteria for Application
Specific eligibility criteria have been set for applicants. The student must have passed Class 5 from a recognised school. Additionally, the student must be a resident of the same district where they are applying for admission to the NVS school. To apply, the student must have been born between May 1, 2015, and July 31, 2017.

Required documents for application
The application requires the student’s signature. Additionally, the following are needed: the guardian’s signature, a photograph of the student, and a certificate signed by the parents and the student, and verified by the school headmaster. Apart from these, an Aadhaar card is required; if unavailable, another valid proof of residence must be provided.
It is mandatory to have Aadhaar details or a residence certificate issued by a competent government authority. Candidates will also need to enter basic details—such as state, district, block, Aadhaar number, APAAR ID, PAN number, etc. on the application portal. Please note that all documents must be in JPG format and sized between 10KB and 100KB.
Exam schedule
The entrance examination for students is scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. Admit cards for the exam will be made available for download on the website a few days before the exam date.
