New Delhi: A major upset is unfolding during the vote counting for the Bankipur Assembly by-election. After nine rounds of counting, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has established a lead. According to the latest information, Kishor is ahead by approximately 5,200 votes, a situation that has left BJP workers and leaders visibly disheartened.
Conversely, there is great enthusiasm among workers and supporters at the Jan Suraaj Party office. If Prashant Kishor defeats the BJP for this seat, it will prove to be a significant blow to the party. The election in Bankipur was necessitated by the resignation of BJP’s Nitin Navin; consequently, Navin’s political reputation is also at stake. The RJD appears to be suffering a major setback and may slip to the third position.
Prashant Kishor’s lead after the 9th round
Nine rounds of counting have been completed so far in the Bankipur by-election. Prashant Kishor is currently leading by 5,200 votes, appearing to make a significant dent in the BJP’s stronghold. He has secured 17,866 votes so far, while the BJP has garnered 12,584 votes. RJD’s Rekha Gupta has received a total of 3,449 votes.
This election is being viewed as a major setback for the RJD. Overall, the Jan Suraaj Party is leading after the ninth round. Vote counting has been underway since 8:00 AM, with tight security arrangements in place. Agents from all political parties are present inside the counting centre. The Election Commission is providing updates on its official website after every round.
The Election Commission and district administration have made special arrangements to ensure the counting process is conducted fairly and peacefully. Traffic police have issued special guidelines to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles in the area on the day of the counting.
Lead after 8 rounds
According to the Election Commission’s official website, Prashant Kishor maintained a dominant position in the figures recorded after the eighth round of counting. By this round, PK has secured 15,637 votes. The BJP has received 11,081 votes, while Rekha Gupta has garnered 2,991 votes.
Votes after seven rounds
Following the seventh round of counting, Prashant secured 13,500 votes in Bankipur. The BJP’s Neeraj is in second place with 9,689 votes. The RJD appears to be falling out of the race. Rekha Gupta has received 2,599 votes.
Votes after the sixth round
Prashant Kishor maintained his lead in the sixth round as well. By this round, PK had secured 11,603 votes. Neeraj Sinha received 8,152 votes, and Rekha Gupta received 2,154 votes. Prashant Kishor is leading by 3,451 votes.
Votes received in the fifth round
After the conclusion of the fifth round of counting, Prashant Kishor has secured 8,971 votes, meaning he continues to lead. The Bharatiya Janata Party has received 6,652 votes, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal has received 1,534 votes.
