New Delhi: August has brought significant relief to people. Speculation that Indian oil companies might offer relief on gas cylinder purchases starting August 1st has proven true. Indian oil companies have reduced LPG cylinder prices by up to ₹202, bringing cheer to customers; in cities like Kolkata, the price has dropped by as much as ₹209.
This relief applies to 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders. Prices for commercial cylinders were also cut in July, marking the second consecutive month of price reductions. This decision by Indian oil companies is seen as a welcome relief for the business community. However, there has been no change in the prices of 14 kg domestic cylinders.
Commercial LPG Cylinder Becomes Cheaper by Over ₹200
Commercial cylinder prices have dropped in cities ranging from Delhi to Lucknow. In the national capital, following a reduction of ₹202, commercial cylinders can now be purchased for a total of ₹2,728. Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, saw a substantial cut of ₹209, with the new rate recorded at ₹2,872.50.
In Patna, the capital of Bihar, the price of a commercial cylinder has come down to ₹3,018 from ₹3,227. In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the price has dropped from ₹3,052.50 to ₹2,860.50. Commercial cylinder prices were also reduced by ₹183.50 in July. Over the past two months, the price of commercial cylinders has decreased by a total of ₹375.50, while in Kolkata, the price has dropped by ₹209.
Domestic Cylinder Prices Remain Unchanged
While Indian oil companies reduced commercial cylinder prices, they made no changes to domestic cylinder prices. Overall, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders have remained stable. In Mumbai, the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder has been recorded at ₹941.50.
In Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, the price of a standard cylinder stands at ₹944.50. In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the LPG cylinder is selling for ₹949. In Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, the price is recorded at ₹952.50, while in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, it is trending at ₹957.50.
Price Changes on the First of the Month
It is worth noting that the prices of commercial and domestic LPG cylinders are revised on the first day of every month. On August 1, 2026, the very first day of this month, there has been significant relief regarding the price of commercial cylinders, a move being viewed as a welcome gift. Commercial cylinder prices had also dropped previously in July. If you plan to purchase a commercial cylinder today, it is advisable to check the latest price first to avoid confusion.
