Assam floods: PM Modi holds meeting, MLAs take major decision

A severe flood has struck in Assam. In light of this dire situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting with all the state’s MPs and reviewed the situation which is occur in Assam. He stated that the meeting was held on Tuesday with all the state’s MPs regarding this issue. He also assured that the central government is working closely with the Assam state government to provide all the possible assistance to those affected by the floods in Assam.

What transpired during PM Modi’s meeting?

PM Modi held a review meeting with all the state’s MPs regarding the floods in Assam. He shared this information in a post on his Instagram account. He wished for the safety of all those affected by the floods. He wrote, “I have spoken to all the MPs regarding the floods in Assam and discussed how to handle the current situation.” He added that the central government is working closely with the state government. He wishes for the safety of those affected by the floods and that the affected people will receive relief and safety.

Current Situation Of Assam Flood

Speaking about the current situation in Assam, Assam is currently experiencing a devastating situation. The flood situation in Sivasagar district of Assam is continuously worsening. The water level has risen so much that even village homes are flooded. Furthermore, the roads are also very becoming river-like. Consequently, hundreds of families are facing the prospect of being rendered homeless. Furthermore, due to flooding in homes and roads, hundreds of people are continuing struggling to even get enough food, while relief operations are being rapidly carried out in response to this situation.

Meanwhile, Assam’s MLAs have taken a big major decision. All MLAs, except those from the Raijor Dal, announced a significant decision during a meeting. They have pledged to donate there one month’s salary to the affected people. Launching this initiative, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Piyush Hazarika announced that all BJP MLAs will also donate one month’s salary. This big significant decision, taken by the BJP in Assam, is being seen as a relief by the flood-affected people. Despite the harsh weather and flood conditions, the Air Force continues to perform its duties and make every effort to avoid the flood. Those trapped in the flood are also being evacuated by Air Force helicopters. The Army is also delivering food supplies to the flood-affected people.
