CJP Protest

New Delhi: The national capital, Delhi, has currently become a hub for protesters. Educator and social activist Sonam Wangchuk, representing the CJP, is observing an indefinite hunger strike here. On Saturday morning, plainclothes Delhi Police personnel removed him from Jantar Mantar.

The Delhi Police cited his deteriorating health as the reason for this move and admitted him to Safdarjung Hospital. However, Sonam Wangchuk did not call off his hunger strike; he is continuing his fast from the hospital itself. Meanwhile, to intensify the movement at Jantar Mantar, Abhijit Deepke, founder of the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) has also begun a hunger strike. Making a significant announcement, the CJP has warned of a march to Parliament on July 20.

How the strategy to remove Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar was devised

According to sources, instructions were issued from the Delhi Police Headquarters at 1:30 AM on Friday to shift Wangchuk to Safdarjung Hospital. Officials at the Mandir Marg police station devised the strategy and even conducted a rehearsal to move him to the ambulance in under a minute without any confrontation. Discussions were also held about using jammers to prevent videos of the operation from surfacing.

Doctors are urging him to accept treatment.

According to Safdarjung Hospital, he was admitted at 7:40 AM on Saturday. He is showing signs of dehydration, potassium deficiency, and other metabolic imbalances. Doctors are trying to persuade him to undergo treatment. His wife, Gitanjali Angmo, has insisted that no medical treatment be administered without the family’s consent.

New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma stated that this step was taken in accordance with High Court directives, Wangchuk’s condition, and medical advice. On the other hand, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka alleged that Wangchuk was manhandled and that protesters were also assaulted. The police have denied these allegations. Meanwhile, the CJP has demanded the resignation of PM Narendra Modi alongside that of Dharmendra Pradhan.

Foot March to Parliament on July 20

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced a foot march to Parliament on July 20. CJP founder Deepke stated that the march to Parliament would take place regardless of the circumstances. Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali, claimed that Wangchuk would also participate in the march.

On the other hand, according to police sources, the CJP has not sought permission for the march. Even if they were to apply now, the likelihood of receiving permission appears quite slim. July 20, 2026, marks the first day of the Monsoon Session in Parliament.
