New Delhi: While the conflict between the US and Iran has caused alarm across the Middle East, tensions have once again flared up in Balochistan and Pakistan. The Baloch Army has wreaked havoc by launching a major attack on the Pakistani military. Forty-five Pakistani soldiers were killed in this deadly assault, further exacerbating an already dire situation.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed that its fighters launched a massive attack on a Pakistani security forces convoy in the Khadkocha area of Mastung district. According to the organisation, more than 45 Pakistani soldiers were killed, and several others were injured in the attack. While the Baloch Army has targeted the Pakistani military in the past, this particular strike is considered to be exceptionally severe.
BLA Claims Responsibility for the Attack
A statement issued by Baloch Army spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch revealed that the organisation’s ‘Fatah Squad’ carried out the attack. He claimed that the targets included buses transporting Pakistani army personnel, their security escorts, and additional military reinforcements that arrived later.
The organisation stated that a fierce gun battle ensued between the two sides following the initial attack. The BLA claimed that over 45 soldiers were killed and a dozen were injured during the operation. The group also indicated that the death toll could rise as the conflict continues.
The BLA announced that it would soon release detailed information regarding the operation, including the strategy behind the attack and specifics concerning the alleged casualties and loss of military equipment suffered by the Pakistani army. Meanwhile, Pakistan has not yet officially confirmed the BLA’s claims.
Tensions Escalate
It is worth noting that in recent months, the BLA has claimed responsibility for several major attacks on the Pakistani army, paramilitary forces, and government installations in Balochistan. This has caused the security situation in the region to steadily deteriorate. Mounting pressure is also being exerted on the Pakistani government.
Tensions Persist Between the US and Iran
While the Baloch Army has launched a major attack targeting the Pakistani military, the US and Iran are also engaging in hostilities against each other. The US is continuously bombarding Iran, while Iran is firing missiles at US military installations. The US is determined to wrest control of the Strait of Hormuz from the Iranian military.
There seems to be very little hope of finding a middle ground between the two countries. A few days ago, it appeared that things might work out between the US and Iran, but the US did not accept Iran’s conditions, leading to a resumption of attacks.
