Rain Alert

New Delhi: Monsoon activity is currently visible across most Indian states, causing conditions to deteriorate significantly. Monsoon rains have brought life to a standstill in regions ranging from the Northeast to South and North India. There is no immediate respite from the rain in sight. Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh experienced intense heat throughout the day yesterday.

This trend has persisted through the night and continues into the day; rising temperatures are causing significant discomfort. The next three to four days are expected to be challenging for many states. Warnings for torrential rain have been issued for 22 states, including those in the Northeast, West Bengal, and Bihar.

Heavy Rain Warnings for Several States

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon has become fully active across many states. The department has issued a heavy rain alert for most areas of Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. The IMD has forecast rainfall over the next 6–7 days across the plains of Northwest India, as well as in most parts of West-Central and Peninsular India.

Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are expected in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam between July 14 and 15. Additionally, rainfall is likely in Odisha, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Torrential rain may occur in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Bihar, Telangana, Sikkim, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra.

Delhi-NCR Weather Update

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in Delhi-NCR may shift after a spell of alternating rain and heat over the past few days. However, there is currently no immediate likelihood of rain in the region; cloudy skies are expected to persist. Rising temperatures may lead to sweltering heat. Weather in UP

The IMD has forecast rainfall at several locations in UP up to July 19, 2026. A spell of rain is likely in Eastern Uttar Pradesh until July 17. The IMD has predicted widespread rainfall across several parts of Eastern UP on July 18 and 19.

Weather in Bihar

The IMD has issued an alert for torrential rain in various parts of Bihar. Scattered rainfall is likely across the state on July 14. Heavy rainfall is expected in several districts between July 15 and 19. Additionally, winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 50 km/h are anticipated from July 13 to 19.

Heavy rain is expected in Himachal Pradesh too.

The IMD has forecast heavy rain in several parts of Himachal Pradesh until July 17. An alert for widespread rainfall has been issued for July 18 and 19. Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely on July 18–19, with strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 60 kmph expected.
