New Delhi: The Southwest Monsoon is now fully active across most parts of the country, with its impact visible in several states. Today, July 12, is proving to be a challenging day for many regions; monsoon rains have been recorded in various areas since morning. The rainfall has caused temperatures to drop, providing people with relief from the scorching heat.
However, waterlogging caused by the rain is disrupting traffic in some areas. Western Uttar Pradesh has seen intermittent cloud cover since morning, while most parts of Delhi-NCR have experienced a mix of sunshine and clouds. Heavy rainfall has created a critical situation in the northeastern states, leading to landslides in several locations. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain is expected in several states.

Weather Forecast for Delhi-NCR
The Meteorological Department has issued a rain warning for Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram, accompanied by cloudy skies. Heavy rainfall is likely in some areas. Following continuous rain over the past few days, waterlogging issues have increased in low-lying areas. The IMD has issued a heavy rain alert for Delhi and its surrounding regions.
Heavy Rain in UP and Uttarakhand
According to the IMD, rainfall is expected in most parts of Uttar Pradesh in the coming hours. Heavy downpours are anticipated in districts including Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Bareilly. Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted for the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand. Authorities have urged caution in districts such as Dehradun, Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar, and Rudraprayag due to the risk of landslides.
Rainfall in Other States
The Meteorological Department has issued a monsoon rain warning for several parts of Himachal Pradesh, with alerts for heavy rain in Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, and Kangra. Additionally, heavy rain warnings have been issued for Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. Meanwhile, Chandigarh may soon record its heaviest rainfall of the season, and an alert for significant rainfall over the next 24 hours has been issued.

Heavy Rain in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal
The Meteorological Department has stated that the monsoon is now fully active across Eastern India. Alerts for moderate to heavy rainfall have been issued for most districts in Bihar, with specific warnings for multiple spells of rain in Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Darbhanga. Alerts for rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms have also been issued for Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Heavy Rain in Chhattisgarh
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely in Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh), with alerts for intense rain also issued for Sagar and Gwalior. Rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in several locations. Widespread rainfall is anticipated in Chhattisgarh as well, with rain likely in the Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, and Bastar regions.
