Can the restoration of statehood change the political scenario?

If full statehood is restored to Jammu and Kashmir in the future, its impact will not be limited to the administrative system but may also affect the political equations. There will likely be changes in the powers, administrative structure and policy making process of the state government.

Political experts say that after the restoration of statehood, the role and responsibilities of the elected government may become more extensive than before. This may also lead to changes in coordination between development projects, local administration and various departments.

However, it is also clear that the final decision in this regard will be taken only by the Central Government and under the constitutional process. Therefore, for the time being, political rhetoric continues on this issue, while a formal decision is awaited. In the coming times, the talks between the Centre and the political parties of Jammu and Kashmir can play an important role in deciding the direction of this issue.
