Delhi Rain

New Delhi: With the onset of the monsoon, torrential rains and storms have disrupted normal life across various parts of the country. The monsoon has become active in most regions, including North India. Its impact is also visible in the national capital, Delhi, affecting daily life.

Rain accompanied by strong winds continues in parts of Delhi-NCR, bringing relief from the scorching heat as temperatures drop. A decline in temperature has been recorded across the region, stretching from Delhi to Gurugram. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain for several areas in Delhi-NCR. Details regarding the expected weather conditions are provided below.

Clouds Hover Over Delhi-NCR

The weather pattern in Delhi-NCR has shifted dramatically. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is being witnessed in several parts of the NCR, including Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram. Light to moderate rainfall is also expected in Delhi, which will provide relief from the humid heat.

Dark clouds have been moving across the Delhi-NCR sky since morning. Strong winds blowing from Delhi to Gurugram have led to a drop in temperature. Meanwhile, commuters faced traffic jams in the East of Kailash area after a tree fell onto vehicles.

Reports indicate that four to five vehicles were damaged in this incident. Heavy downpours in Gurugram also caused waterlogging in several locations. Traffic movement came to a complete halt on the road leading to Hero Honda Chowk due to the heavy rain.

Expected Temperature in Delhi

According to the Meteorological Department, a drop in temperature is expected in the capital today. The monsoon was predicted to arrive in Delhi on July 2. The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in the coming hours; moderate rain accompanied by strong winds is likely in several areas. Additionally, wind speeds are expected to range between 30 and 50 km/h, or potentially higher.

Monsoon Advances

According to the Meteorological Department, rain and strong winds are expected throughout the day on July 7. A warning for light to moderate rainfall has also been issued for the evening, accompanied by the likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning. The IMD has reported that the Southwest Monsoon has advanced towards parts of Gujarat, the North Arabian Sea, and Haryana as of July 7.

The IMD predicts that the rapid advancement of the monsoon will bring good rainfall to several states in North India, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and the Delhi-NCR region. It is expected to progress into the remaining areas of the North Arabian Sea, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab within the next 2–3 days.
