New Delhi: Last year, terrorists carried out a cowardly attack in Pahalgam that shocked everyone. The brutal terrorists killed people after asking about their religion, an act that drew global condemnation. In response to the deaths of innocent people, the Indian Army conducted airstrikes in Pakistan, destroying terrorist hideouts.
An individual has now faced serious consequences for making an offensive comment on a post by the daughter of a man killed in that attack. Initially arrested for the offensive remark, he has now been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). This is being viewed as a major move by the police.

Police Register Case
A case under the UAPA has been registered against 26-year-old Muhammad Sanoof, a resident of Aikkarappadi in Malappuram district, for making an offensive comment on a video posted by the daughter of N. Ramachandran, a Kochi resident killed in the Pahalgam attack.
Last year, the Muttom police in Kollam had registered a case against Sanoof for making the objectionable remark. He was accused of posting a derogatory comment on a video shared by the daughter of the Pahalgam attack victim.
Who Filed the Complaint?
A leader from the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) filed the complaint regarding the offensive comment made on the viral social media video. Subsequently, the police issued a lookout notice against Sanoof. Based on this, he was detained upon his arrival at the airport. Officials from the Muttom police station stated that the decision to invoke the UAPA was made following interrogation and an examination of his mobile phone.

Details Provided by the Police
Regarding this serious matter, the police stated that they uncovered crucial evidence during the initial investigation, prompting the decision to apply UAPA charges. They intend to approach the court to seek his custody for interrogation while he remains in judicial custody. According to police officials, the investigation could be handed over to the Crime Branch or the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
Rajeev Chandrasekhar posts about the arrest
It is worth noting that BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar reacted to the arrest in a social media post, raising a significant question. He wrote about how a young Malayali is being brainwashed into celebrating the brutal and merciless killing of a fellow Keralite during the Pahalgam terror attack.
Furthermore, he issued a warning regarding the arrest and alleged that this is not an isolated incident; rather, it is the result of years of appeasement policies, radicalisation, and the political hypocrisy of the Congress and the CPI(M).
