New Delhi: Ahead of Diwali, the Uttar Pradesh government has opened its coffers for its employees. The UP government has approved a bonus equivalent to one month’s pay, specifically 30 days,s for eligible employees for the financial years 2025 and 2026. This decision is expected to provide financial relief to lakhs of state government employees.
Under this government directive, the bonus will be extended to non-gazetted state government employees, as well as staff in educational institutions, local bodies, and Zila Panchayats. This announcement is likely to boost festive spirits among the employees, offering them a significant financial benefit.

25% of the bonus to be paid in cash
The state government has established a specific mechanism for the disbursement of the bonus. It has been announced that 25% of the total bonus amount will be paid in cash, while the remaining 75% will be deposited into the employees’ Provident Fund (PF) accounts.
The objective of this arrangement is to provide immediate financial support while simultaneously ensuring savings for the future. The cash component will allow employees to cover Diwali-related purchases, household expenses, and other essential needs, while the amount deposited into their PF accounts will serve as a financial safety net for the future.
Full bonus for retired employees
The state government has also made special provisions for employees who have already retired or are set to retire soon. Such employees will receive the entire bonus amount in cash. This is particularly beneficial for those for whom immediate cash is more useful than having funds deposited into a Provident Fund account.

Bonus for daily-wage employees
The decision by the Yogi-led state government also encompasses daily-wage workers. A provision has been made to grant them a bonus of up to a maximum of Rs 1,184. This will provide financial assistance during the festive season to those employees who do not fall under the regular pay scale structure. A Major Relief Ahead of the Festival
This decision by the state government is being viewed as a significant financial boost for employees ahead of Diwali. The receipt of a bonus is likely to increase the employees’ purchasing power and may also stimulate market activity during the festive season.
The actual bonus amount for each employee will be determined based on their eligibility and the applicable government regulations. Employees should refer to official orders from their respective departments or seek information from their offices regarding the date of payment and their individual bonus amounts.
