According to the recent reports, the delhi government is planning to start the registation for the saheli smart card from october. this special pink card will allow women and transgender people to trave free of cost in delhi buses. Once issues, the card will remain valid for a lifetime, Making travle more convenient and safe. With the help of this card, women will be able to move around the city without any financial or travel barriers. to use the card, it will need to be activited through DTC’s automatic fare collection system. Th initiative aims to empower women and transgender citizens by promoting the mobility, equal access and independece to public transport facilities across the capital.
As per the details, the Delhi Transport corporation DTC will not issue the saheli smart card directly. After registration, applicants will have the complete their KYC process on the DTC portal. only afetr verification will the card be issues. the delhi government will not charge any fee for this facility, but the band may take a small service charge for providing the card. At present women, in delhi already enjoy free bus travelm but they are given pink paper tickets for the same. with the introduction of the saheli smart card, the system will become more modern, digital and convenient. this move is expected to reduce dependency on paper tickets and make free travel smoother for women and transgender citizens in delhi.
Who will Recieve the Saheli Smart Card?
From the month of october, women and transgender individuals aged 12 years and above in delhi will receive the saheli smart card for free travel in all dtc and cluster buses. the card will carry the holder’s name and photograph for identification. issued under teh nationa common mobility card NCMC framework it will serve as a modern digital travel pass. however, the free facility will be limited to DTC and cluster buses only. for using the other modes of transport, the card will require the recharge and top-up. this step is aimed at ensuring the more safer, easier and more accessible public transport for women and transgender citizens. To get the saheli smart card, applicants must be genuine residents of delhi, and at least 12 years old wh the valid address proof.They need to register on the DTC portal, chose a partner bank, and complete full KYC. required documents include the aadhaar, PAN residence proof, bank specific papers and photo of the individual.
