Why Did AAP Lose? Virendra Sachdeva Explains
Virendra Sachdeva said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power by promising to fight corruption and rejecting luxury like big cars and bungalows. “However, in 2020, when people were dying due to COVID-19, Arvind Kejriwal was busy building his ‘Sheesh Mahal’ (glass palace). This shows how insensitive he was,” he said.
According to Sachdeva, this marked the beginning of AAP’s downfall. He added, “AAP leaders lost because of multiple scams, including the liquor scam, Sheesh Mahal scam, and classroom scam. Over the last five years, they spent their time engaging in corruption and trying to cover it up, instead of working for the people. While the public suffered from various problems, AAP leaders remained disconnected from ground realities.”
