DA Hike

New Delhi: The plight of central employees and pensioners is going to shine, because the central government will soon open the treasury box. The Modi government at the Centre can soon increase the dearness allowance, which will benefit about 50 lakh central employees and more than 65 lakh pensioners. This time, we may see an increase of up to per cent in DA.

Earlier, the DA of central employees was increased by 2 per cent. After that, the DA increased directly to 60 per cent. If now the DA is increased by 3 percent then it will again reach 63 per cent. However, no one has said anything officially yet as to how much the DA of central employees will increase. This type of claim is being made in media reports.

Till when can DA increase?

Central employees and pensioners are now just waiting to know by what date their DA will be increased. It is expected that the government may increase DA by 25 August 2026. If there is an increase in DA, then its rates will be considered effective from July 1, 2026.

Earlier, the rates of D and A, which were increased by per cent in April, were implemented from January 1, 2026. Now this good news can be received by the last week of August. As of now, no responsible official of the government has said anything about the date of the DA increase. These are only such speculations that may prove to be true.

Know what DA is?

You will be happy to know that DA is given by the Central Government to employees and pensioners to provide relief from rising inflation. This is a fixed percentage of the basic salary. The central government revises it twice annually. The thing to note here is that DA is available only to government employees and pensioners. There is no obligation on private companies to provide it.

How is DA determined?

Under the Central Government 7th Pay Commission, DA is calculated based on the average of the last 12 months of AICPI-IW. The higher the inflation, the greater the possibility of a DA increase. For this reason, employees keep an eye on the AICPI-IW data released every month.

When was the biggest increase in the 7th Pay Commission??

Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA has been increased several times till now. The biggest increase during this period was in July 2021. This year, the DA was increased by per cent. According to inflation, the DA was revised from time to time. The 8th Pay Commission has been constituted, and the Commission is working to take suggestions from various ministries, employee organisations, and states.
