In Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, the price of petrol is ₹113.51 per litre, and diesel is ₹99.82 per litre. In Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, petrol is priced at ₹107.78 per litre, while diesel is ₹99.56 per litre.

Reduction in Taxes on Petrol and Diesel
The central government has reduced the levies imposed on the export of petrol, diesel, and ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel). As of August 15, the export duty on petrol has been slashed from ₹3.5 per litre to zero; consequently, no windfall tax will be levied on petrol exports. Regarding diesel exports, the duty has been reduced from ₹25.5 to ₹24 per litre.
