New Delhi: Students protesting under the banner of CJP over the NEET-UG exam leak controversy achieved a major victory today. The Union Education Minister has resigned from his post, taking personal responsibility. He described his resignation as being in the national interest. While submitting his resignation to PM Narendra Modi, he stated that the future of students is paramount, transcending any political or legal dispute.
Opposition political parties immediately launched an attack following the Union Minister’s resignation. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also reacted on social media. Both political parties hailed the development as a defeat for the central government.
Congress calls it a major victory for Gen Z.
The Congress party, via the social media platform X, termed Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation a major victory for the youth. A post by the Congress stated that Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation represents a victory for the youth and India’s ‘Gen Z’ generation. This victory belongs to the crores of young people across the country who raised their voices demanding a better education system.
“Narendra Modi’s arrogance has been shattered, and his lies have been defeated. The youth forced an incompetent and corrupt Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, to resign.” The post further noted that from the very first day of the NEET paper leak, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party fought for justice for the youth from the streets to Parliament. It added that Narendra Modi should apologise for ordering lathi-charges and pellet-gun attacks on the youth.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sharply criticised the central government regarding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. Reacting on the social media platform X, the party described it as a victory for the youth. “The arrogant Prime Minister and the government were forced to yield.” The party claimed that the government had to take this decision due to the sustained protests by students across the country and mounting public pressure.
Supriya Sule: Resignation came under pressure
Following the Education Minister’s resignation, NCP (Sharad faction) leader Supriya Sule stated that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation came after persistent pressure from peaceful protesters, students, and the opposition. “I congratulate every protester who stood firm on the NEET-UG issue. However, this cannot be the end; we demand genuine accountability, sweeping reforms in education, and a full discussion on the NEET issue in Parliament.”

Shashi Tharoor also reacted to Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. He said, The Education Minister’s resignation is an admission that in a democracy, one cannot evade accountability forever. This follows weeks of resolute and peaceful advocacy by students, parents, and citizens across the country who refused to be ignored.”
