New Delhi: This monsoon season has turned into a crisis, as torrential rains across various locations have brought life to a standstill. The rain that wreaked havoc on the streets of Surat, Gujarat, is now unleashing chaos in Delhi-NCR. The situation is such that water is visible everywhere on the roads; the streets have transformed into rivers.
Commuting is taking significantly longer than usual, and conditions are steadily worsening. There appears to be no immediate respite from the rain in Delhi-NCR. Heavy rain alerts have been issued for several areas, including Noida, Ghaziabad, and Greater Noida. Along with the rain, winds are expected to blow at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h. Residents are advised to exercise caution due to the possibility of lightning strikes.

Warning of Heavy Rain for 2-3 Days
According to the Meteorological Department, there is no sign of relief from the rain in Delhi-NCR in the near future; a warning for heavy rain over the next two to three days has been issued. The spell of heavy monsoon rain that began on Tuesday is expected to continue through Thursday. The IMD has warned of intermittent rain accompanied by strong winds during this period. The maximum temperature is expected to remain below 40 degrees Celsius.
Today’s Weather Forecast
On Thursday, the IMD recorded a minimum temperature of 24.3 degrees Celsius in Delhi. The maximum temperature for the day is expected to hover between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius. Cloudy conditions are likely to persist throughout the day. Winds are expected to blow at speeds of 40 to 50 km/h, accompanied by heavy rain. Warnings for torrential rain have also been issued for Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad.
Improvement in Delhi’s Air Quality
Continuous heavy rainfall has led to a significant improvement in the capital’s air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 50 at 9:30 AM, placing it in the ‘Good’ category. Air quality in other NCR cities also remains in the ‘Satisfactory’ to ‘Moderate’ range. Currently, no significant changes in air quality are anticipated.

Heavy Rainfall in Meerut
According to the IMD report, the monsoon is now fully active in Meerut, with rainfall continuing for the past two days. Persistent torrential rain has led to a drop in temperatures. However, the monsoon rains have brought trouble alongside relief from the heat; roads across both urban and rural areas have turned into veritable rivers.
Monsoon Reaches Most Parts of the Country
The monsoon has arrived across nearly all parts of India, bringing heavy rainfall that is affecting regions ranging from the plains to the mountains. Rains have also slowed down the pace of life in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
