IMD Alert
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather alert for several regions of the country, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall between July 29 and July 31. As the monsoon continues to remain active over central and eastern parts of India, states like Madhya Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan are expected to receive intense rainfall. The IMD has also provided updates for the national capital, Delhi, sparking interest among residents about the possibility of rain in the coming days.

Heavy Rainfall Forecast for These States
According to the IMD’s bulletin, eastern Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period. The atmospheric conditions, including a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal and strong monsoon winds, are contributing to this active spell of rain. Parts of Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, and Odisha may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall during the next 48 hours.
In Madhya Pradesh, especially the western and southern districts, authorities have been advised to remain alert for possible waterlogging and local flooding. Similarly, eastern Rajasthan is expected to receive widespread showers that may impact daily activities and road travel.
Rain in Delhi: What to Expect?
For Delhi and nearby regions in the National Capital Region (NCR), the IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall over the next couple of days. While the city may not witness the kind of heavy downpours seen in other states, brief spells of rain are expected, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

The cloudy skies and occasional showers have already brought some relief from the high humidity levels that were persisting in Delhi last week. Temperatures are likely to hover around 32–34°C, with night-time temperatures remaining in the comfortable range of 25–27°C.
IMD’s Weather Outlook for the Week
The monsoon trough continues to be active and is currently positioned south of its normal location. This alignment is expected to drive heavy rainfall in central India through the week. The IMD has also highlighted the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, states in the northeastern region such as Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh are likely to see scattered to widespread rainfall, though not as intense as in central India.

Precautions and Advisory
Residents in the affected states are advised to take necessary precautions, especially those living in low lying or flood prone areas. Commuters should plan their travel accordingly, and local authorities are on alert for any emergency responses.
The monsoon remains strong and is expected to bring significant rainfall to central India in the coming days. While Delhi may not see heavy rain, occasional showers are likely to bring much needed relief from the summer heat. Stay tuned to local weather updates and IMD bulletins for the latest information.
