Virat Kohli to Play Ranji Trophy Match After 13 Years!

Virat Kohli has confirmed his participation in the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Railways on January 30. Delhi coach Sarandeep Singh shared that Virat informed DDCA President Rohan Jaitley and the team management about his availability for the game against Railways. However, he will not play the match against Saurashtra on January 23.

Last Ranji Match Played in 2012

Virat Kohli last played a Ranji Trophy match in 2012 against Uttar Pradesh in Ghaziabad. Recently, DDCA included Virat in the 22-member preliminary squad. Alongside Virat, Rishabh Pant was also named in the team, and Pant has confirmed his participation in the match against Saurashtra.

Available for Final League Match

Due to a neck strain, Kohli will miss Delhi’s upcoming match against Saurashtra in Rajkot, starting on January 23. However, he has informed DDCA that he will be available for the team’s final league match of the Ranji Trophy against Railways. Delhi head coach Sarandeep Singh confirmed, saying, “Virat has informed the DDCA president and team management that he will be available for the match against Railways.”

 Rishabh Pant could play alongside Virat Kohli in the upcoming Ranji Trophy. Kohli last played a Ranji match in November 2012. Pant, who will be playing his first Ranji match in six years, will take the field in Rajkot. He may also be seen playing with Kohli in a match against Railway.

Rohit Sharma will also be participating in the Ranji match

After the announcement of the Champions Trophy team on Saturday, India’s captain Rohit Sharma confirmed his availability for the Mumbai match against Jammu & Kashmir in the domestic tournament. Other Indian stars, including Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ravindra Jadeja, will also be seen in action for their respective teams in the next round of the Ranji Trophy.

Virat Kohli last played domestic cricket from November 2-5, 2012. The match was part of the Ranji Trophy between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Under Virender Sehwag’s captaincy, Kohli scored 14 runs in the first innings and 43 runs in the second. Uttar Pradesh won the match by 6 wickets.
