Uttarakhand Weather Situation

The situation in Uttarakhand remains critical. Heavy to very heavy rainfall has triggered landslides in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Pithoragarh, causing road blockages and isolation of remote villages. The IMD’s Red Alert indicates extremely heavy rain (over 204.5 mm in 24 hours) and warns people to avoid travel unless necessary.

Rescue operations are ongoing, and state authorities have urged tourists and pilgrims to postpone travel plans to affected areas, especially those headed towards Char Dham.

Orange Alert in Seven Other States

Besides Uttarakhand, the IMD has also issued Orange Alerts for seven other states, including:

  • Uttar Pradesh
  • Bihar
  • Himachal Pradesh
  • Punjab
  • Haryana
  • Chhattisgarh
  • Odisha

These states are expected to experience intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds over the next 72 hours. In low-lying and flood-prone regions, authorities have advised taking precautionary measures and avoiding water-logged areas.

In Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, several rivers including the Ganga and Ghaghra are flowing close to the danger mark. Flash floods and waterlogging have already affected normal life in parts of eastern UP and north Bihar.

Delhi Weather Update

Meanwhile, Delhi NCR is likely to see light to moderate rain over the next few days. According to the IMD, the national capital is currently experiencing humid weather with a possibility of intermittent showers. While no alert has been issued for Delhi, residents may experience traffic congestion due to brief spells of rainfall and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Monsoon Impact Across India

The monsoon, though essential for agriculture, has caused significant disruptions this year. The impact is being felt across the country with damaged roads, disrupted transport, flooded homes, and crop loss in many states.

Disaster management teams, NDRF units, and local administration are working on ground zero to provide relief and evacuate people from vulnerable areas.

IMD Advisory

The IMD has urged citizens in alert zones to:

  • Stay indoors during heavy rain and thunderstorms
  • Avoid travel through hilly or flooded areas
  • Keep emergency kits ready
  • Follow updates from local authorities and weather departments

As India continues to battle extreme monsoon conditions, residents in affected areas must remain alert and prepared. The weather department is closely monitoring the situation and will issue timely updates. Stay tuned to official weather channels and stay safe.
