There is a big controversy over the claim that Yamuna’s water is poisoned. Arvind Kejriwal accused the Haryana government of this. After his statement, the Election Commission sent him a notice and asked for proof by tomorrow.

Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused Haryana’s BJP government on Monday of poisoning Yamuna’s water. After this, the Election Commission sent him a notice and asked him to provide proof by Wednesday.
The Election Commission has asked Kejriwal to prove his serious allegations about poisoning the Yamuna and mass murder with facts. It also cited various legal provisions and court rulings, stating that such statements against national unity and public harmony could lead to up to three years in jail.
What the Election Commission Said in Its Notice
The Election Commission stated that such accusations could create hostility between regional groups and residents of neighboring states. It also warned that claims about real or perceived water shortages could lead to law-and-order problems. The Commission directed Arvind Kejriwal to respond to the complaints by 8 PM on January 29, 2025, with factual and legal evidence so that the matter could be investigated and appropriate action taken.
Kejriwal’s Allegation
On Monday, Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the BJP was trying to create chaos by poisoning the Yamuna water coming from Haryana to Delhi. He suggested that this was an attempt to shift the blame onto his party’s administration.
“Delhi gets drinking water from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh… but the Haryana government has poisoned the water coming from the Yamuna into Delhi. Fortunately, our Delhi Jal Board engineers detected it in time and stopped the contaminated water,” Kejriwal alleged.
However, the Chief Engineer of the Delhi Jal Board refuted Kejriwal’s claim, stating that such statements could create unnecessary fear among the public.
