Traffic arrangements in Delhi altered for Kanwar Yatra; restrictions on vehicles bound for UP and Uttarakhand.
In view of the Kanwar Yatra 2026, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a new advisory regarding the movement of heavy goods vehicles in the capital. To ensure the safety of Kanwariyas and maintain smooth traffic flow for the general public, diversions and restrictions have been implemented on several key routes for heavy vehicles heading towards Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
According to the advisory, goods vehicles bound for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand via Ring Road towards Shastri Park, Khajuri, and Bhajanpura will not be permitted to enter these areas. Similarly, heavy vehicles coming from Mukarba Chowk towards Wazirabad will not be allowed to use the Signature Bridge or the Old Wazirabad Bridge; instead, they will be diverted directly towards Chandgi Ram Akhara.
The traffic police also clarified that goods vehicles approaching from the Timarpur side will not be able to use the Wazirabad Flyover or the Signature Bridge. Furthermore, heavy vehicles approaching Yudhishthir Setu will not be permitted to cross it; they will be diverted towards Ring Road via the Chandgi Ram Akhara loop, Monastery loop, and the western foot of the bridge.
The Delhi Traffic Police has advised motorists to use NH-9 or the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) to reach their destinations, thereby avoiding unnecessary traffic congestion within the capital.
Important advice has also been issued for the general public.
The traffic police have also appealed to the public to use public transportation whenever possible. This will reduce the pressure of vehicles on the roads and traffic will remain smooth. People have also been appealed to park their vehicles only at designated parking places and avoid roadside parking.
The advisory states that if any suspicious object or person is seen, inform the police immediately. Passengers going to New Delhi Railway Station have also been advised to use the Paharganj route instead of Ajmeri Gate.

On which routes will the movement of heavy vehicles be restricted?
