To worship Lord Shiva on the day of Budh Pradosh Vrat, wake up in the morning, take a bath, wear clean clothes and take a pledge to observe the Pradosh fast. In the evening, take a bath again and worship Shiva Parvati during Pradosh period as per the prescribed rituals. Offer Belpatra, Dhatura, Sandalwood, Ganga water, Shamipatra, flowers, Ganga water, fruits etc. to Lord Shiva and chant Lord Shiva’s mantras “Om Namah Shivay”.
After the worship, read or listen to the story of Budha Pradosh Vrat and perform the Aarti of Lord Shiva and complete this fast by taking the Prasad. One should donate as much as possible on this day, apart from this, donating makeup to a married woman is very fruitful.

In ancient times, a man who had recently got married, after marriage he wanted to take his wife back from her in-laws’ house for the second time after Gauna, so he told his mother-in-law that he would take his wife back on Wednesday only, all the relatives and his father-in-law explained to him that it is not auspicious to send off the wife on Wednesday but the man did not listen to this, then the girl’s parents were forced to send off their daughter.
When that man was going with his wife, he suddenly felt thirsty on the way, then the husband went to another place in search of water, when he returned with water, he saw that his wife was drinking water given by some other person and was laughing and talking to him, he got very angry, he started shouting at his wife in anger.
but then he saw that the face of that person was like his, after this both the persons started arguing and while watching this a crowd of people started gathering there, then a policeman reached there, he asked the woman who is your husband? But the face of both the persons was same, so the wife got confused.
Seeing this, her husband felt very sad, then he prayed to Lord Shiva and said, Lord please forgive me, I did not listen to my in-laws and relatives and sent my wife away and brought her back on Wednesday itself, God accepted his prayer and the other person who was his look-alike disappeared from there, after this incident, that person reached his home safely with his wife and from then onwards he started observing the fast of Budha Pradosh with all the rituals.
