Hyundai Motor India, the country’s second largest carmaker has stopped making its flagship petrol-diesel SUV, the Tucson, in India. The tucson was part of Hyundai’s premium SUV lineup and was priced between Rs.27.32 lakh and Rs.33.64 lakh ex-showroom. The sudden end of its production has surprised many car buyers and auto lovers. this is because the tucson was known as one of the hyundai’s safest and most technologically advanced SUVs. It offered high-end features, strong build quality and modern safety systems. For many customers looking for a premium and reliable SUV, The Tucson has been an attractive choice in the Indian market.

Hyundai has confirmed in an official statement that the tucson has been discontinued in the Indian market. However, the company assured that all existing Tucson owners will continue to receive full service, spare parts and customers support without any issues. Hyundai added that this decision has been taken in line with its customer-focused approach and its brand vision, progress for humanity. The company said it is always working to improve its product lineup to better match customer needs and changing market trends. while the tucson will no longer be sold, Hyundai remains committed to maintaining a smooth ownership experience for current users of the SUV.
Hyundai Tucson
The Hyundai Tucson was not selling well in recent months. Between april and october 2025, the company managed to sell only about 450 units of this SUV in India. In the Indian market demand for 5-seater SUVs priced above Rs.25 lakh is quite low, while buyers prefermore spacious and practical 7-seater models. Another major reason was its high cost. the Tucson was fully imported and then assembled at Hyundai’s chennai plant, which increased its overall price. Because of low demand and higher costs, the SUV failed to attract enough buyers.
Even after the recent reduction in GST Rates, Hyundai had cut the price of the Tucson by up to Rs.2.40 Lakh. However, this price drop did not bring any of the major improvement in its sales. Now that the Tucson has been discontinued, Hyundai’s SUV lineup in India includes Models like the Exter, Venue, Creta and Alcazar. Among these, the venue and Creta currently some the of the best-selling SUVs in the country. these models are more affordable and better suited to Indian customer needs, which is why they perform much better in the market compared to the premium Tucson.
