New Delhi: The Delhi government has consistently provided significant benefits to women through various schemes. It will soon launch a new scheme, the ‘Delhi Lakshmi Yojana offering a monthly benefit of ₹2,500. However, not all women will be eligible for this scheme.

According to a government statement, the beneficiary family’s annual income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh. Families with an annual income above this limit will not be eligible for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana.
Women already receiving a government pension or any other form of regular financial assistance will not be eligible for this scheme. The Delhi government is likely to launch the scheme around Raksha Bandhan next month. According to the scheme documents, women aged between 21 and 60 years will be eligible for this assistance. Additionally, the beneficiary must have been a resident of Delhi for at least 10 years. Only one woman per family will be able to avail of the benefits of this scheme.
What is the objective of the Delhi scheme?
The Delhi government stated that the initiative aims to strengthen the financial independence, self-reliance, and dignity of lakhs of women in the national capital. Families owning a four-wheeler vehicle will not benefit from the scheme. Furthermore, the benefits of the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana will not be available if any family member has a criminal record.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has reviewed the preparations for the scheme. She chaired a meeting at the Secretariat to assess the readiness for the launch. During the meeting, he emphasised that the government’s objective is to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach only the genuinely eligible beneficiaries.

Documents Required to Join the Scheme
To enrol in the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, certain documents are mandatory. You must possess an Aadhaar card, a Delhi residence certificate, an income certificate, and a bank account linked to your Aadhaar card. Additionally, an active mobile number and a passport-sized photograph are required. If you do not have these documents, you will not be able to register for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana. Therefore, it is essential to have the documents ready in advance to avoid any difficulties during the enrollment process.
