New Delhi: The embers of the molestation incident involving a young woman in Jamui had barely cooled when another similar incident emerged from Samastipur, raising questions about both the safety of women and the state of law and order. The rising incidents of violence against women in Bihar have put the government in the dock.
Former Deputy CM of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, shared a video of the molestation incident in Samastipur to target the administration. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said, “Samrat Chaudhary, if you are a man of your word, then resign. A few days ago, we saw your statement: ‘If you make reels, you will get killed; if you don’t, you will survive’ You were giving ideas to others.
Tejashwi Yadav targets the ‘double-engine’ government.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has cornered both the state and central governments over the law and order situation in Bihar. He remarked, “The PM comes and says, ‘make reels.’ There are such serious issues at hand, yet he speaks lightly; shameless ministers will even dismiss this as an ‘isolated incident.’ Samrat Chaudhary will take action based on caste. Law and order has completely collapsed.”
“Bihar is becoming unmanageable. Where are the BJP people? Ever since BJP’s Samrat Chaudhary became the Deputy CM [in the current alliance], a ‘Rakshasraj’ (rule of demons) has descended upon Bihar. He is merely a ‘selected’ CM.” He further added that there is massive public outrage in Bihar. “Samrat is facing widespread condemnation, yet these people show no sign of shame.”
Four accused arrested in Samastipur incident
The police have taken significant action regarding the molestation case in Samastipur, Bihar. Four accused have been arrested in connection with the incident that occurred in the Karpurigram police station area. The accused have been identified as Vikas Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Rambabu Sahni, and Awadhesh Paswan.
A slap in the face of the administration’s authority – Shakti Yadav
Meanwhile, RJD leader Shakti Singh Yadav stated that this incident is a stinging slap in the face of the administration’s authority. Governance cannot be run through the barrel of a gun. Daughters are not safe in Bihar; the ruling dispensation must acknowledge this. Boasting does not constitute governance.
Important to understand the reason behind the incident – BJP
Dilip Jaiswal, a minister in the Bihar government representing the BJP, stated that it is essential to understand the underlying cause of every incident. An incident occurring in the wake of a dispute must be viewed within that specific context. The law is taking its course, and the guilty will soon be punished. Commenting on the Samastipur incident following the one in Jamui, he remarked that creating and posting ‘Reels’ (short videos) is part of a conspiracy. He questioned whether there is an attempt to defame the government.
