Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Geetanjali, J.Angmo, has filed a petition in the supreme court seeking his immediate release. She has claimed that wangchuk’s arrest is illegal and violates his basic rights. The petition has been filed under article 32 of the Indian constitution, which allows citizens to directly approach the supreme court for justice in case of unlawful detention. through this petition, Geetanjali has requested a writ of habeas corpus, which is legal remedy used to free a person who is being held in custody without proper legal grounds. She has urged the court to intervene quickly and ensure that wangchuk is released without delay. The case has now drawn public attention and raised concerns about freedom justice in the region.

Sonam Wangchuk is in Jail in Jodhpur
Sonam Wangchuk is currently lodged in Jodhpur Jail. He was arrested on September 24 Following the violence that took place in Ladakh. His arrest was made under he National Security Act NSA, a strict law that allows authorities to detain a person without trial if they are considered a threat to national security. According to wangchuk’s wife, Geetanjali angmo, the charges against him are completely false. She stated that her husband has been standing up for the people of ladakh. She also dismissed the allegations of his alleged links with Pakistan as baseless and politically motivated Geetanjali has demanded a fair investigation and called for wangchuk’s immediate release, saying that such false accusations are harming his reputation and discouraging those who peacefully raise their voices for the environment and local rights in Ladakh.
What Geetanjali Angmo Said?
According to the recent reports, Geetanjali Angmo, the wife of Sonam Wangchuk has appealed to president Droupadi Murmu to intervene and help secure her husband’s release. In a three-page letter addressed to the president, she claimed that Wangchuk is being defamed and targeted for the work he has done for the public welfare over the past four years. Angmo also expressed deep concern about his well-being saying she has no information about kept. She urged the president to take immediate action to ensure justice and transparency in the case.
In a memorandum sent through the deputy commissioner of leh, Angmo requested wangchuk’s unconditional release. She wrote that her husband poses no threat to anyone. Instead, he had dedicated his life to serving the brave sons of ladakh and has always stood in solidarity with the indian army in protecting the country’s honour and unity.
