New Delhi: Tragic news has emerged from Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, near Delhi—an incident chilling enough to make anyone shudder. A massive fire broke out in a moving sleeper bus on the Yamuna Expressway. Nine passengers died on the spot in this horrific blaze. The accident occurred approximately 32 kilometres beyond the Yamuna Expressway’s ‘Zero Point,’ within the jurisdiction of the Jewar police station.
Chaos ensued following the accident. The fire was so intense that it took significant effort to bring it under control. Passengers were seen jumping from the bus in a desperate bid to save their lives. Details regarding the number of injured passengers are yet to be confirmed. Administrative teams, including the fire department, have arrived at the scene. Efforts are underway to determine the cause of the sudden fire. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also expressed grief over the incident.
Fire brought under control after intense effort.
Joint CP Rajiv Narayan Mishra stated that panic gripped the passengers as soon as the fire broke out. Upon seeing the flames, people were seen jumping from the bus to escape. Nine people have tragically lost their lives in this incident so far. Approximately 40 to 50 people were on board the bus. The incident reportedly occurred late Wednesday night, around 11:30 PM.
The fire engulfed the entire bus rapidly. Upon receiving the alert, a fire department team rushed to the scene and began firefighting operations. After considerable effort, the team managed to bring the blaze under control. A cooling-down process is currently underway to ensure the bus is completely cooled. There is a possibility that some individuals may still be trapped inside the bus. The full extent of the impact will only be known once the rescue operation is complete.
CM Yogi expresses grief over the incident.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences regarding this tragic accident. Taking cognisance of the incident, the Chief Minister has issued directives to ensure proper medical treatment. He instructed officials to provide adequate medical care to the injured.
He also spoke to the families of the deceased and ordered that all possible assistance be provided. The Chief Minister wished the injured a speedy recovery. The bus (BR32 PA8647) belonging to Raj Kalpana Travels was en route from Delhi to Mahoba; the operator primarily runs services to Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
