Maruti Tata Hyundai Hatchback Cars Sale: Hatchback cars continue to have strong demand in India, but some models are struggling in sales for different reasons. According to the April sales report, Maruti Suzuki sold good numbers of WagonR, Baleno, Swift, and S-Presso, while sales of the Alto K10 dropped compared to previous months. Tata Motors also saw a sharp fall in sales of the pre-facelift Tiago as buyers are now waiting for the launch of the new Tata Tiago Facelift. At the same time, Hyundai Motor India’s affordable hatchback, the Grand i10 Nios, recorded a major year-on-year sales decline, showing weaker demand in the segment.

Drop in Sales of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors

In April, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 became the fourth highest-selling hatchback in India with sales of 10,856 units. However, the car recorded a year-on-year sales decline of nearly 6 percent. In April last year, Maruti Suzuki had sold 11,515 units of the Alto K10. Tata Motors also faced a drop in sales of its entry-level hatchback Tiago and Tiago EV. The company sold a combined 5,488 units in April, which was around 23 percent lower compared to April 2025, when total sales stood at 7,119 units. Buyers are now waiting for the launch of the new Tata Tiago Facelift.
