The 600 private hospitals in Haryana will stop treating and performing surgeries for patients under the Ayushman Bharat scheme after February 3. According to the Indian Medical Association (IMA), the hospitals are owed Rs 400 crore by the government, which has not been paid yet. Due to financial difficulties, the private hospitals are now unable to continue. The IMA has given the Haryana government a week to pay the pending amount.

Hospitals are preparing to shut down the Ayushman Bharat scheme

The IMA says the government has not paid them Rs 450 crore in reimbursements yet. In a statement, the IMA mentioned that their delegation had met with Haryana’s Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to discuss the issue, but no solution has been found so far. Due to this problem, the IMA Haryana has announced that from February 3, these 600 private hospitals connected to the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Haryana will stop treating patients under this scheme.

The IMA has warned that the government has until February 3 to resolve the issue

The IMA is advocating for the listed hospitals that have been implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme since its launch in 2018. However, due to the introduction of the Chiranjeevi card in November 2022, payments have not been processed properly, leading to difficulties for the hospital administration.

IMA wrote a letter

On January 25, the IMA wrote a letter to the CEO of Ayushman Bharat Haryana, Sangeeta Tetrwal. The letter stated, “All the listed hospitals in Haryana have contacted us and demanded action. We inform you that if these demands are not met soon, they will be forced to suspend Ayushman services from February 3. In such a case, the poor people of Haryana will face difficulties, and the responsibility for this will lie with your department.”
