Renault Duster has received a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP), making it one of the safest SUV options in the market. Renault India shared the update on Monday and said the SUV performed strongly in both adult and child occupant protection tests. The new Duster scored 30.49 out of 32 points in adult safety, while it secured 45 out of 49 points in child protection. According to the company, the SUV was tested extensively to match Indian road and driving conditions. Renault’s Engineering Head, V Vikraman, said the result reflects the company’s strong engineering and detailed testing process.

Price of New Renault Duster

The SUV went through advanced simulations, physical mileage tests, and system-level validations before launch. The new 2026 Renault Duster is priced from ₹10.49 lakh (ex-showroom), offering buyers a combination of safety, performance, and value.

Renault Duster marks a new phase for Renault in India, according to Renault brand CEO Fabrice Cambolive. He said India has remained an important growth market for Renault outside Europe, and the company is now moving ahead with its expansion plans after taking full ownership of the Chennai manufacturing plant. A few months ago, Renault Group acquired Nissan’s 51 per cent stake in the facility, giving it complete control of the plant. Cambolive said the launch of the new Duster begins a fresh chapter for Renault in the Indian market. The SUV has been introduced with hybrid and turbo engine options, and the company claims it is among the most powerful vehicles in the mid-size SUV segment.

Renault’s Comeback in the Indian Market

Renault Duster is set to make a strong comeback in the Indian market, although Renault has not yet announced its official pricing. The company is expected to reveal the price details in March. Renault India CEO Stephane Deblaise said the new Duster has been specially designed keeping the preferences of Indian customers in mind. Renault first launched the Duster in India in July 2012, and the SUV quickly became popular for creating a new trend in the country’s SUV segment. However, due to rising competition and changing customer expectations, the company discontinued the model in 2022. Renault India currently sells three models in the country — Renault Kwid, Renault Triber, and Renault Kiger. With the launch of the new Duster, the company now aims to strengthen its position and increase its market share in India.
