RCB Announces New Captain for IPL 2025
The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played in 2025, likely starting in the third week of March. All 10 teams have already begun their preparations. While some teams have retained their captains, others have announced new leaders for the upcoming season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has now joined this list. The team announced its new captain, Rajat Patidar, at an event in Bengaluru on February 13. Patidar will lead RCB in IPL 2025, with the responsibility of securing the team’s first-ever title. Before the mega auction, RCB retained him for Rs.11 crore.

Rajat Patidar’s IPL Career So Far
Rajat Patidar, who will captain RCB in IPL 2025, has played 27 matches in the tournament so far. The 31-year-old right-handed batsman has batted in 24 innings, scoring a total of 799 runs at an average of 34.74. His performances include seven half-centuries and one century. Patidar has been a key player for RCB, and the team is now counting on him to lead them to their first IPL title. With his consistent batting, he will play a crucial role in the upcoming season.
RCB Still Chasing First IPL Title After 17 Seasons
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has been a star-studded team since the inaugural IPL season but has never won the title. The team has reached the final three times, only to fall short on each occasion. Over the years, frequent captaincy changes have been a challenge. In the last three seasons, Faf du Plessis led the side, but he was not retained ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction and is no longer part of the squad.
A New-Look RCB in IPL 2025
RCB will enter IPL 2025 with a revamped squad featuring Liam Livingstone, Tim David, Lungi Ngidi, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Despite the changes, the franchise remains one of the most popular in the league, with a massive fan following. The team hopes that the fresh lineup can finally break the trophy drought and bring home their first IPL title after 17 seasons.
