Political News

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, drawing urgent attention to the ongoing challenges faced by students from marginalized communities, particularly Dalits, Other Backward Classes (OBC), and minorities. In his letter, Gandhi highlighted two critical concerns and delays in the disbursal of scholarships and the deteriorating condition of hostels meant for these students as well.

Gandhi emphasized that scholarships play a crucial role in helping students from economically as well as socially disadvantaged backgrounds pursue education. However, frequent delays in the release of these funds are forcing many students to either drop out or continue their education under extreme financial pressure. He argued that such disruptions not only affect academic performance but also undermine the purpose of affirmative action policies.

Referring specifically to the situation in Bihar, Congress Party Rahul Gandhi cited reports of poor infrastructure, unsanitary conditions, and neglect in hostels housing students from marginalized communities. He pointed out that hostels meant to be safe and supportive environments are instead becoming symbols of neglect and governmental apathy. Broken toilets, lack of clean drinking water, overcrowded rooms, and inadequate facilities were among the issues he flagged in his communication.

Rahul Gandhi Appealed

Calling it a matter of national concern, Congress Rahul Gandhi appealed to the Prime Minister to work closely with state governments to find lasting solutions. He stressed that while education is a key tool for empowerment, systemic neglect in support systems like scholarships and hostels can render efforts toward social justice ineffective.

Rahul Gandhi urged the central government (BJP) to conduct a comprehensive review of the existing scholarship schemes to ensure timely and transparent delivery as well. He also recommended an audit of hostel facilities across states, starting with Bihar, to identify gaps and push for immediate improvements. In his view, addressing these issues would not only reflect a commitment to social equity but also boost confidence among marginalized communities in the government’s welfare policies.

His letter comes at a time when students’ protests and complaints about educational neglect have been gaining momentum in various parts of the country. Many civil society groups and education activists have echoed similar concerns, urging the government to prioritize inclusive development in the educational sector.

As the matter garners national attention, all eyes are now on how the (PM Narendra Modi) Prime Minister’s Office PMO and the concerned ministries respond to this call for action.
