New Delhi: Opposition political parties are aggressively demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They allege that Kumar flagrantly violated rules by removing a large number of votes from the electoral rolls. Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has once again issued a warning to the Election Commission and the government.

On Wednesday, he stated that he is undeterred by FIRs, noting that there are already 45 FIRs registered against him. He added that he views each FIR as a “medal” and expressed a desire to have 100 FIRs against him. He also announced plans to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar. Gandhi alleged that while over 300 MPs sought to meet Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Tuesday, permission for the meeting was denied.

Those destroying democracy will not be spared: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi asserted that Gyanesh Kumar must resign, declaring that those who dismantle democracy will not escape accountability. He further accused PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat of destroying democracy, reiterating that Kumar has no choice but to step down.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had also invited INDIA bloc MPs to a lunch at the Sagar Ratna restaurant on Janpath on Wednesday. Gandhi made these remarks outside the restaurant.

Gyanesh Kumar must resign at any cost: Rahul.

Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Chief Election Commissioner, insisting that Kumar must resign immediately. He stated that the plan for the day involved a protest at Jantar Mantar to inform the nation that Gyanesh Kumar is not a legitimate Chief Election Commissioner. Calling these individuals “traitors,” he emphasised that Kumar would be compelled to resign.

FIRs Termed as ‘Medals’

An FIR was registered against Rahul Gandhi for forcibly entering the Akashvani Bhawan premises during a protest against the Election Commissioner. Commenting on the matter, he stated that every FIR registered against him serves as a sort of medal. He noted that there are currently 45 FIRs against him and expressed a desire for that number to reach 100. Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge invited MPs from the INDIA alliance to the Sagar Ratna restaurant on Janpath at 1:30 PM on Wednesday. There, the MPs discussed future strategies over a meal.

It is worth noting that, alongside other political parties, the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ (CJP) has also announced plans to stage a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar starting October 10. The CJP has stated that their protest will continue until Gyanesh Kumar resigns from his post. Meanwhile, a call has been issued for all cockroaches to reach Delhi on October 10.
