There is important news for vehicle owners living in Delhi. If you do not carry a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate for your vehicle or if your certificate has expired, you may soon face problems at petrol pumps. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has taken a strict step to control the rising air pollution in the capital. Under the new rules, petrol pumps in Delhi may refuse to provide petrol or diesel to vehicles without a valid PUC certificate. The government believes this decision will help reduce pollution and encourage people to keep their vehicles pollution-free and properly maintained.

What Rekha Gupts Said?

Rekha Gupta on Wednesday issued clear instructions that no petrol pump in Delhi will provide fuel to vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. The Delhi government believes that smoke from vehicles is one of the main reasons behind rising air pollution in the capital. Through this strict rule, authorities aim to control vehicles that spread excessive pollution and encourage regular pollution checks. The Chief Minister said the government is committed to providing citizens with a clean and healthy environment. She added that this tough decision is necessary to tackle Delhi’s growing pollution problem effectively.

The new rule introduced by the Delhi government will apply to all types of vehicles and is not limited to only petrol or diesel vehicles. Authorities have directed petrol pumps and CNG stations across the capital to check whether a vehicle has a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate before supplying fuel. Under the updated guidelines, petrol, diesel, or CNG will only be provided to vehicles that meet pollution control requirements. The government says this step is aimed at reducing harmful vehicle emissions and improving air quality in Delhi. Officials believe stricter fuel supply checks will help control pollution more effectively.

According to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, every vehicle must have a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate after completing one year of registration. Until now, many vehicle owners ignored this requirement, but the rules are set to become much stricter. Under the new system, vehicles without a valid PUC certificate may not be allowed to refill petrol, diesel, or CNG at fuel stations. Authorities have instructed petrol pumps and gas agencies to strictly follow the order without exception. The government has also warned that action could be taken against agencies that fail to implement the rule properly and allow violations to continue.
