PM e-Drive Scheme : Govt will give subsidy up to 9.6 lakhs on purchasing electric truck

PM e-Drive Scheme, the government is giving subsidy of up to 9.5 lakh rupees on the purchase of electric trucks, the use of electric trucks will reduce carbon emissions and pollution will be reduced by 35%.

Electric Truck Subsidy

PM e-Drive Scheme: Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy has announced the launch of PM e-Drive Scheme. This scheme has been started from Friday, July 11, 2025. Under this scheme, now a subsidy of up to Rs 9.6 lakh will be given on the purchase of electric trucks. This scheme has been implemented to promote the purchase of electric trucks, in which a budget of Rs 10,900 crore has been set for electric trucks worth Rs 500 crore. Under this scheme, 5600 electric trucks have been made to support.  

Subsidy will be available on 1100 trucks in Delhi

Incentives will be given to 1101 trucks registered in Delhi under PM e-Drive Scheme, pollution can be reduced by purchasing electric trucks, old trucks will have to be removed to encourage electric trucks. A maximum subsidy of up to Rs 9.6 lakh will be given on the purchase of electric trucks, this subsidy will be given in the form of a lump sum deduction on the purchase of the vehicle.

This scheme will be for a duration of 2 years

PM e-Drive Scheme

PM e-Drive Scheme is a 2 year scheme which will end on 31 March next year. Under this scheme, Rs 500 crore has been allocated for the purchase of trucks and the government will provide subsidy on the purchase of 5601 trucks, in which subsidy ranging from Rs 2.7 lakh to Rs 9.7 lakh will be given. Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy has said that out of 5600 trucks, 1100 trucks will run in Delhi and an amount of Rs 100 crore has been allocated for Delhi, in which this subsidy will be given on first come first serve basis and for the first 1100 trucks, subsidy of up to Rs 9.6 lakh will be given.

The battery will also get a warranty of up to 5 years

Under the PM e-Drive Scheme, the battery will also be given a warranty of five years or 5 lakh kilometer, whichever is less. Under this scheme, subsidy will also be available on N2 and N3 category electric trucks under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, in which vehicles of more than 3.5 tonne and trucks with gross vehicle weight up to 12 tonne will be included under the N2 category, while trucks with gross vehicle weight of more than 12 tonne and up to 55 tonne will be included under the N3 category.

Who will benefit from this scheme

PM e-Drive Scheme will benefit sectors like cement industry, logistics sector, Bharat Steel. There are many companies in India that manufacture e-trucks, including companies like Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland and Volvo Eiser, who manufacture trucks. They will benefit from the implementation of this scheme, due to which prices will decrease due to incentives and the money will start going directly to the manufacturer. This scheme will also promote the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.
